April 30th, 2012 – We read at Lake Forest Elementary School and Prairie View Center.  The children were very excited, had lots of questions, and enjoyed the readings very much!

In August 2012, we also started to volunteer with United Way’s Reading Pals Program, and plan to donate books and read to children in grades 1-3  and track their progress by judging their improvement in reading skills.  We are excited to give the books that we read to the children to take home in order to develop their own libraries and continue the process of reading at home.

March 2, 2013 – Kitab donated books to the Early Learning Coalition with the purpose of distributing books to families with younger children, and looks forward to working with the Early Learning Coalition moving forward

November 26th, 2013 – We traveled to Mahim Municipal School in Mumbai, India and spoke to the kids in their classroom. They were extremely happy to see us and asked lots of questions about where we were from and about the books we had brought! All of them couldn’t wait to read the stories, and they even promised to tell us about the what they had read when we came back to visit!

November 24th, 2014 – The Gainesville Sun awarded KITAB Inc.'s co-Founders Aman and Zain Kabeer the Spirit of Gainesville award for the eight citizens "who best illustrate the talent, generosity, and compassion of this city"

Oak Hall Students Elaa Singh and Kelly Thigpen read to Alachua County elementary students and donate books to them on behalf of KITAB Inc.

January 16th, 2017-We are excited to announce that KITAB was officially voted into Provisional Member Status within Dwight Hall at Yale University! This is a fantastic first step towards creating a self-sustaining program in the New Haven, CT community just like the one we are working so hard to create in our hometown of Gainesville, FL. We look forward to updating you on more exciting partnerships in the future!
